Dr. Thomas is an accomplished oncologist and clinical development executive with over 18 years of pharmaceutical experience across the spectrum of drug development, from early clinical trials to late-stage studies, including leadership in regulatory science and medical affairs.

Prior to joining HiberCell, Dr. Thomas served as Chief Medical Officer for Catamaran Bio, where she defined medical strategy and goals, and ensured effective preparation and execution across all development functions to bring to clinic a CAR-NK transposon platform for off-the-shelf cell therapy for solid tumor oncology.  Dr. Thomas previously held senior leadership positions at biotechnology and global pharmaceutical companies. As Senior Vice President of Clinical Development at Caribou Biosciences, she built and led the medical functions for IND submissions and implementation of Phase I trials that evaluate the company’s genome-edited allogeneic cell therapy platform in the clinic. Dr. Thomas served as Vice President of Clinical Development at Array Biopharma (now Pfizer) where she contributed to the successful design and execution of clinical trials to broaden indications for the combination of BRAF/MEK inhibitors and led medical IND submission and clinical trial implementation for the company’s small molecule pipeline. Prior to her biotechnology roles, Dr. Thomas advanced programs through early and late stages of global clinical development with increasing responsibility at Amgen, GlaxoSmithKline, Novartis and Bristol Myers Squibb.

Dr. Thomas earned her medical degree from the University of California, Irvine. She completed her internal medicine internship at UCLA and her residency in radiation oncology at the University of Michigan. For 5 years before joining industry, she served as an attending physician in radiation oncology in academic settings and with an NIH oncology clinical research grant. She received her undergraduate degree from UCLA, and she holds a master’s degree in economics from Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Thomas is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Association for Cancer Research, and the American Society of Hematology.
